Residential Parking In the Boston Area

So you’re thinking about buying a home in an area like Brookline, West Roxbury, or Jamaica Plain (just to name a few) and the places you’ve looked at don’t have a garage or a personal driveway. The city of Boston and surround towns have certain rules regarding where to park, parking bans, and overnight parking. Here’s some quick info regarding parking in the Boston area.

To Obtain a Residential Parking Sticker:

The city of Boston has a Resident Permit Parking Program that allows residents to purchase a parking sticker so they are able to find a parking spot closer to their residence. Most parking spaces in the city of Boston are designated just for those with resident parking stickers. There are visitor parking areas as well so residents can have guests conveniently park near their neighborhood.

To obtain a Resident Parking Permit sticker, you can apply in person at the Resident Parking Division at Office of the Parking Clerk, Room 224, City Hall during the hours of 9am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Or, you can apply online. Click here for more information regarding the Resident Permit Parking Program in Boston.
